Your lungs breathe in the air, and they also breathe in the smoke. For smokers, this happens simultaneously, with over 50% of your cigarette drag being fresh air. We can trick your mind into believing that you’re having a cigarette. But you have to be willing to play along here. Putting your foot down preemptively and insisting that nothing will work for you will do nothing but leave you addicted to those foul sticks of death for the rest of your life – which shouldn’t be a long time if you’re still puffing.

Three Breathing Exercises to help you quit Smoking

1: This first exercise is called the “swimmer.” It’s an effective exercise that can really demonstrate how to quit smoking. Imagine that you’re out on the ocean and you want to dive about 20 feet down to, who knows, search for gold maybe. What will you do? You’ll start to take deep breaths to prepare yourself for the dive. To implement this exercise, you need to tilt your head back, calm yourself down, and begin to deeply breathe in and slowly exhale. You want to repeat this about four times. The goal here is to get oxygen into your lungs and into your bloodstream - fooling your body into thinking you’ve had a cigarette.

2: The second exercise is the “bender.” Align your body as if you’re doing toe touches. Bend down and repeat the breathing from exercise 1. This will help to build lung strength.

3: This exercise is the “hypoventilation.” What you want to do here is actually recreate the breathing pattern of a panic attach. Take short, rapid, shallow breaths for 30 seconds, and then another 30 seconds of deep breathing. Do this when you’re having a craving to trick your mind into needing air instead of smoke.

Many methods can teach you how to quit smoking. But when it comes down to it, the power is in your hands only. However if you need some help then

Just remember, if you’re wondering how to quit smoking, start with something ultra easy and all natural like these breathing techniques.
